July at BEEKMAN 1802 is when we stop watching the flower gardens and start watching the vegetable gardens. The first major harvests are trickling in, which means we get to start cooking again with fresh herbs and produce. In the heat of the long evenings, we've been known to grab a large bowl, scissors, some olive oil, some orchard cider vinegar from our trees, and a couple of forks. We walk around the BEEKMAN 1802 Heirloom Vegetable Garden snipping our favorite greens directly into the waiting bowl.

We end our foraging at our herb beds, saving the best for last. It's the first time of the year we have every kind of herb we can think of at our fingertips. Just waving our hands through the leaves results in a hundred different scents...from peppery, to citrus-y, to minty, grassy.

In our BEEKMAN 1802 Month of July Soap we blended mint, rosemary, thyme and other essential oils to recreate a lazy, hot July evening in our Heirloom Garden.

Like all BEEKMAN 1802 soap, our Month of July Soap is handmade from the milk of the Beekman goats, who graze freely on the land and drink the waters that once made Sharon Springs one of the most famous spa destinations in the world. BEEKMAN 1802 soap uses the highest percentage of pure goat milk possible in each bar. You may notice a faint layer of ash on the bottom of the soap, which washes away with first use. This ash affirms the bar is made from pure goat milk using non-chemical methods. Because of the seasonality of our ingredients, and the different chemical-free essential oils used for fragrance, there may be slight differences in color between all soaps. Each bag of BEEKMAN 1802 Month of July soap contains two wrapped 3.25 oz bars.
