BEEKMAN 1802 Month of June Soap
(This product will begin shipping on May 7) June just might be our favorite month at BEEKMAN 1802. The seventy-year-old gnarled Smoke Tree (which was planted as a gift for a long ago Mother's Day) is in full scarlet haze. June also competes with July for the most flowers in bloom in the Formal Garden behind The Beekman Mansion. Peonies of all shades, Siberian Poppies, and roses are in their best blooms. But our favorite of all is an old fashioned stalwart. One that's not too showy at all. It stands sentry at the edges of the Formal Garden, quietly putting forth small white blossoms on it's branches. It's our Mock Orange hedge. A staple in farm gardens going back centuries, the Mock Orange (Philadelphus) bush might not be the showiest bloomer in the garden, but it's definitely one of the most fragrant. We've stood a good quarter mile away in the Goat Field, and if the breeze is blowing in the right direction, it still makes itself known.
So our Month of June Soap is in honor of all the floral scents of June at BEEKMAN 1802... from grasses, to trees, to tiny wildflowers. But we're putting the citrus-y Mock Orange front and center. It's time it showed off a little.
Like all BEEKMAN 1802 soap, our Month of June soap is handmade from the milk of the Beekman goats, who graze freely on the land and drink the waters that once made Sharon Springs one of the most famous spa destinations in the world. BEEKMAN 1802 soap uses the highest percentage of pure goat milk possible in each bar. You may notice a faint layer of ash on the bottom of the soap, which washes away with first use. This ash affirms the bar is made from pure goat milk using non-chemical methods. Because of the seasonality of our ingredients, and the different chemical-free essential oils used for fragrance, there may be slight differences in color between all soaps. Each bag of BEEKMAN 1802 Month of June soap contains two wrapped 3.25 oz bars.
