September comes on with a mission at BEEKMAN 1802. By the end of the first week, the ancient sugar maples have begun to blaze. And around third week, the first frost begins his night shift, making quick work of the BEEKMAN 1802 Heirloom Vegetable Garden.

The immediate things we notice when walking through the Heirloom Vegetable Garden after the first frost are the new smells. The woody herbs have survived the cold best, and the tomato leaves are pungent as they wither to their end. The winter squashes lay exposed to the sky, ready to be picked and brought indoors. We begin to get used to the idea of spending more hours inside, a fact made easier by the prospect of warm fires and pie baking

The morning after the first frost is what we tried to capture in our Beekman 1802 Month of September Soap. It's scented with the woody herbs and spices of a fall kitchen, and the fragrances of the final earthy days of our garden. Bittersweet? Yes. But there's always next year...

Like all BEEKMAN 1802 soap, our Month of September Soap is handmade from the milk of the Beekman goats, who graze freely on the land and drink the waters that once made Sharon Springs one of the most famous spa destinations in the world. BEEKMAN 1802 soap uses the highest percentage of pure goat milk possible in each bar. You may notice a faint layer of ash on the bottom of the soap, which washes away with first use. This ash affirms the bar is made from pure goat milk using non-chemical methods. Because of the seasonality of our ingredients, and the different chemical-free essential oils used for fragrance, there may be slight differences in color between all soaps. Each bag of BEEKMAN 1802 Month of September Soap contains two wrapped 3.25 oz bars.
