Each edition of the Almanac focuses on a theme and for 2018, it is all about the five senses. Our favorite time of year on the farm is autumn - the trees suddenly become an artist’s palette; the baskets of our garden’s harvests are a sight to behold. Of course it made sense (get it?) to have the Autumn issue focus on the sight.
The Almanac was inspired by a copy of the Farmer’s Almanac from the year 1802 that we found on eBay. In the margins the owner had scribbled everything from the number of eggs obtained each day to the birth of a child—as if they were all of equal importance.
We thought how wonderful it would be to create a Beekman 1802 guide to help you get the most out of each season and “cultivate a better life”.
